TLT expands Port Centric offering to Asia

UK-based The Logistics Terminal (TLT) has initiated a phased move designed to expand its port centric offering to Asia’s cargo owners.

The phased move, could see TLT’s warehouse capacity increase 10-fold as it takes over a 10 acre plot at Tilbury Port, the largest Port in the Thames Gateway Zone (327 h.a. of land and water). Enabling access to 30% of the UK’s consumers within a 2 hour drive, the expansion represents a timely strategic move as Asia’s cargo owners entering the UK feel the financial pinch.

Richard Newbold who is shareholder of TLT and founder of renowned 23-year old logistics business, Triple A Transport Services Ltd, which is also based at Tilbury, comments: “For years, cargo owners have incurred the financial and environmental costs of pointlessly hauling containers, weighing some forty four tonnes, hundreds of miles across the UK only for them to be returned to the port empty.

“Quite simply, the port centric logistics solution offered by TLT enables those owners to gain control of both supply-chain costs and the timely delivery of their goods. Carbon emissions are significantly reduced by TLT quickly offloading the container at the Port. The empty container is immediately returned to the Berth so that shipping can have a faster turnaround. The products are either stored at the terminal, where dedicated warehouse account managers operate a bespoke pick and pack system, or transported to a specified destination.”

Essentially, TLT operate as a UK-based Sales Team offering a complete logistics solution. With an intention to operate as a Customs Electronic Remote Transit Shed (ERTS), offering customs clearance and de-van of uncleared containers directly at its premises, TLT represents the future of UK port centric logistics. Plus, with easy access to a nearby rail head, it is truly multimodal.

Mike Brown, partner at TLT adds: “TLT effectively takes care of the entire supply chain process. In fact, our partnership with leading palletized distribution network, Pall-Ex and connections with over 2,500 haulage companies around the UK cements our reputation as one of the UK’s most reliable cost-effective logistics partner.
“This is reassuring for our international partners who already rely on us to ensure distribution and storage costs are kept to a minimum.”

TLT recognise that making the supply chain more efficient adds value, whilst reducing costs and maximising sustainability. Currently, the company has its own fleet of shunt vehicles and thousands of load-sharing partners around the UK. It is also the only port centric logistics terminal linked to leading online haulage exchange websites, www.returnloads.net, www.euroloads.net and www.courierlink.net
